The EAR Yoshino 890 is a Class-A valve power amplifier, designed for listeners who want more power from the circuit approach used in the EAR 834 integrated amplifier. Prices exclude valves. Please contact us for prices.

Designed by Tim de Paravicini, the EAR 890 uses EI KT90 valves to produce 70W of Class-A audio from the same chassis as the 834. The KT90 is one of the few new valve designs introduced in the last 30 years. It draws on the strengths of the EL509 valve, which is used in many EAR amplifiers, and is capable of sustained high-power operation with high reliability. The 2 pairs used per channel are lightly stressed in this amplifier.

Inputs include transformer-coupled balanced connections and unbalanced connections, while separate level controls are provided for each channel. The amplifier can also be configured for flexible monoblock operation, delivering 140W into a wide range of loudspeaker loads. There are no user adjustments.

The EAR Yoshino 890 uses a thick brass front panel with a heavily chromed and polished mirror finish. Its presentation includes the natural mid-range and treble associated with EAR amplifiers, stereo imaging and extended bass with balanced proportions. The additional power provides greater output than the earlier models.
