The EAR Yoshino 834L Deluxe is a valve line preamplifier designed for use with an EAR 834P phono preamplifier and an EAR power amplifier, or with any other high quality source and power amplifier. It provides up to 5 line inputs, together with a genuine tape monitoring circuit, giving 6 inputs in total. A high quality volume control and panel-mounted power switch are fitted, while the input and output terminals are gold plated.

Designed by Tim de Paravicini, the EAR 834L uses a minimalist electronic architecture intended to keep sonic degradation to a minimum. Its 3 double triode valves are arranged in a classic de Paravicini circuit, with particular attention given to the input circuitry. All inputs are positioned at the rear of the chassis on the same circuit board as the selector switches, which are operated by long control shafts connected to the front panel.

A toroidal transformer supplies the double DC power supply, providing both the low-tension heater current and the high-tension anode voltage. The design uses pure DC for the HT and LT supplies, without AC ripple. The valve circuit is designed for a minimum life of 5 years of continuous operation. Output is sufficient for any transistor or valve power amplifier, and the preamplifier can drive long interconnect cables to remotely located power amplifiers.

The Deluxe version adds a chrome and gold finish to the Classic specification, along with extra outputs for bi-amping systems and a neon power monitor light. The EAR Yoshino 834L Deluxe is suitable for systems using either analogue or digital sources.
