509 Monoblock

The EAR Yoshino 509 Monoblock is a 100-watt valve mono power amplifier originally developed for professional studio use. Designed by Tim de Paravicini, the EAR 509 has remained in production for more than 30 years.

Its rectilinear chassis is hand-finished in polished chrome and provides a compact footprint. The amplifier is densely engineered around its substantial power output. Industrial-grade components support its use in professional audio environments, with balanced inputs available for studio applications.

A self-biasing circuit simplifies valve replacement. Two bias controls and 4 LEDs enable the operating bias to be set and monitored accurately. Each amplifier and its valves are individually tested and matched, supporting stereo use as a pair.

Tim de Paravicini designed the EAR 509’s power and output transformers specifically for musical performance. They are hand-built locally and rigorously tested, forming a central part of the amplifier’s operation and allowing it to deliver its full 100-watt output with control, reliability and musicality.
