Classic Design

The EAR 509 is a 100-watt mono power amplifier originally developed for professional studio use. Designed by Tim de Paravicini, it has remained in production for more than 30 years, earning a reputation for exceptional performance, reliability and longevity.

Its distinctive rectilinear chassis is hand-finished in polished chrome, combining a compact footprint with a clean, elegant appearance. Despite its substantial power output, the EAR 509 is densely engineered without compromising performance.

Simple, Reliable Operation

Reliability is central to the EAR 509’s design. Its self-biasing circuit makes valve replacement straightforward, while two bias controls and four LEDs allow the operating bias to be accurately set and monitored.

Precision Matching

Built with industrial-grade components, the EAR 509 is designed to withstand the demands of professional audio use. Balanced inputs are available for studio applications, while each amplifier and its valves are individually tested and matched to ensure optimum stereo performance when used as a pair.

Bespoke Transformers

Tim de Paravicini designed the EAR 509’s power and output transformers specifically for musical performance. Hand-built locally and rigorously tested, these transformers form a fundamental part of the amplifier’s character, allowing the EAR 509 to deliver its full 100-watt output with exceptional control, reliability and musicality.
